The San Francisco 49ers got some good news on quarterback Brock Purdy yesterday. After suffering a brutal elbow injury in last year’s NFC Championship Game, Purdy looks to be ready to go for 2023. This is great news for the 49ers as they now have a much clearer picture of what the quarterback position will look like going into the season.

San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy Cleared To Play

There was some question as to whether Sam Darnold or Trey Lance would start the season. That doesn’t seem to be the case. “Brock is cleared and ready to go,” Lynch said. “Having said that, we’re sticking and we’re adhering to a plan that’s been put in place for some time.” One nugget in the quote from Lynch is that the team is still going to be careful with Purdy. However, having him at training camp as one of the leaders of the team will be invaluable going into the season.

    What Happens To Lance?

The Trey Lance questions becomes interesting now. The team gave up a boatload of picks to move up and select Lance. He is entering his third season and the team is fully behind Mr. Irrelevant rather than the former third overall pick. Considering the injury luck that the 49ers have had the past couple years it seems likely that they would want to keep Lance. However, at what point does Lance want out? Another team would be happy to take a chance on him and see if there is anything there.

Will Brock Purdy be able to have the same success this season? The San Francisco 49ers sure think so.
