Robert Griffin III recently had a hot take on the whole Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese rivalry which got him on the wrong side of several others on social media. After a potential fight on the court between Reese and Clark was stopped by other players in the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game last Saturday, RFG3 took to X to comment that Reese simply hated Clark.
RG3’s comments on the situation were not taken very well by another retired NFL player, Ryan Clark. Clark not only criticized Robert Griffin for his tweet, but also took a dig at his interracial marriage to Grete Griffin, citing that this was the reason he could not empathize with black women.
“RGIII saying he could recognize ‘hate when ‘he’ see(s) it’, when referring to Angel Reese’s feelings toward Caitlin Clark was irresponsible, but not at all surprising, Clark’s the biggest star in women’s basketball, & deservedly so. No need to beat up Reese to add shine to it. RGIII plays into the narrative that Reese is the villain of Clark’s hero origin story. Now, Oberman & Portnoy, who berated Reese in college, have an ally in Griffin. Add him to the list of black men who’ve adopted the corny trend of denigrating black women to affirm their choices. Attacking Reese multiple times in order to gain favor from his desired crowd won’t help RGIII blend in more. ‘Echoing the micro aggressions of racist won’t make him any less black than me.’” Ryan Clark tweeted regarding RGIII through his X account.
“Thank you guys for supporting my Wife’s business. Restock coming soon, so keep ordering and we will get them to you. You guys are the absolute best.” Robert Griffin III added in his tweet after explaining why Ryan Clark’s tweet toward him and his wife, Grete Griffin, were so distasteful.

Robert Griffin III has been married to Grete Griffin since 2018 after meeting each other in 2016. The couple has four children together: Gia, Gloria and Gameya. RG3 also has a daughter, Reese, from a previous relationship.

Robert Griffin III’s tweet came from the game on Saturday, where Caitlin Clark blocked Angel Reese as she attempted to score. For her actions, Caitlin Clark was slapped with a flagrant foul 1, while Reese and Aliyah Boston who tried to stop the players from fighting, were slapped with technical fouls.
Some fans went on to remark that Reese’s actions toward Clark were indeed an overreaction, while others remarked that her reaction was indeed warranted. Just like RG3 and Ryan Clark, many NFL fans and analysts have been going back and forth on the topic since then.
