The Pittsburgh Steelers remain the only team in the NFL that has expressed interest in signing four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They even hosted the future Pro Football Hall of Famer for a visit at their facility last month, and saw Rodgers set up a private workout with two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf, whom the Steelers traded for earlier in the offseason.
Despite these positive signs, Rodgers has not given any indication that he is close to making up his mind between playing for Pittsburgh or retiring from the NFL.
With the 2025 NFL Draft about to kick off, the Steelers are about to set off on the rest of their offseason plans without Rodgers in tow. And while they are willing to wait a while longer for him to make a decision, they will not wait forever.
As it happens, one high-profile quarterback prospect believes that he might end up being the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh instead of Rodgers.
Shedeur Sanders Hints that He Will Be Taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is one of the most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft. Many believe that he can and should be one of the first quarterbacks drafted, while others think his stock may be falling.
During a recent interview on Maxx Crosby’s podcast, Sanders was asked to give his Mount Rushmore of quarterback-wide receiver combos. With his last pick, he said, “Whoever the QB for DK Metcalf and George Pickens… whoever that is this year.”

It is no secret that the Steelers have hosted Sanders for a top-30 visit. If his stock is falling and he is going to be available at pick 21, the Colorado quarterback seems to believe that Pittsburgh would pick him. Therefore, his statement to Crosby would make himself and DK Metcalf/George Pickens the fourth quarterback-wide receiver(s) combo on his Mount Rushmore.
If the Steelers do draft Sanders, that does not mean that they are suddenly out on Rodgers. However, it does mean that the 20-year veteran would have plenty of competition in training camp.
