The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting at 6-3 on the year and squarely in the AFC Wild Card race. The Steelers only trail the Ravens (8-3) in the AFC North and could challenge Baltimore for the divisional crown if they go on a run. One former second-round draft pick reportedly wants to help the Steelers with that potential run.
Former 2nd Round Draft Pick Myles Jack Wants To Play For The Pittsburgh Steelers After Coming Out Of Retirement
NFL Media reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers and linebacker Myles Jack are interested in reuniting as they prepare for a playoff run. In August, Jack retired after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for the Steelers last year.
In the summer, the 28-year-old linebacker revealed that he considered leaving football to pursue trade school, but eventually decided against that.
Last season, he recorded 108 tackles in 15 games for Pittsburgh. After graduating from UCLA in 2016, Jack was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 36th overall pick. During his 103-game career, Jack has recorded 617 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and three interceptions.
As a result of Kwon Alexander’s injured reserve placement earlier this week, the Steelers now have three inside linebackers on injured reserve (Cole Holcomb and Chapelle Russell). There are two players at the position on the active roster (Mark Robinson and Elandon Roberts) and one on the practice squad (Tariq Carpenter).
According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, although the position is thin, head coach Mike Tomlin says the team is not looking “outside the organization” for solutions. The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly recently reported that Pittsburgh expects practice squad veteran Mykal Walker to play despite his limited experience.
Given all these reports, it will be interesting to see if Jack will actually join the team.
