It is May 16, 2025. NFL free agency peaked months ago, the NFL Draft has already taken place, and teams have started their offseason training programs. And despite all that has and is taking place, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on an answer from future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers, of course, was released by the New York Jets after two tumultuous seasons earlier this offseason. Despite the fact that he reached out to teams like the Minnesota Vikings offering to play for them for as little as $10 million, no teams showed any interest in the 41-year-old.
That is, except Pittsburgh.
Indeed, adding the four-time NFL MVP quarterback would be the cherry on top of an offensive overhaul that the Steelers hope will lead to more wins in 2025.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Have Made Changes on Offense While Waiting on Aaron Rodgers

It was clear early on in the offseason that the Steelers may be in the market for a quarterback as they allowed Russell Wilson and Justin Fields depart in free agency. However, the only notable addition they have made is drafting Will Howard in the 2025 NFL Draft, which they did not do until the sixth round.
Pittsburgh did, however, pull off a massive trade, landing two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf, and then signing him to a big $132 million extension. After the trade, Rodgers and Metcalf met for a private workout to gauge their potential chemistry.
In addition to adding Metcalf, the Steelers also traded away George Pickens, the former second round wide receiver who, though immensely talented, had already burned some bridges within the organization.
And while Pittsburgh is clearly comfortable going forward without Pickens, they want to give their potential new starting quarterback as many weapons as possible.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Are Trying to Trade for Chris Olave

Earlier this week, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr announced that he was going to retire from the NFL after injuring his shoulder. This has caused the Saints to start looking at all their options, including offloading other assets as they continue their already prolonged rebuild.
One of their best players is wide receiver Chris Olave, who had 32 receptions for 400 yards and a touchdown in eight games played last season. Unfortunately, his year was cut short due to multiple concussion.
But that does not mean Pittsburgh is not interested:

In his first season in the NFL, Olave had 72 receptions for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns. During his second season, he had 87 receptions for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns.
A former first round pick (11th overall) in 2022, Olave certainly has the potential to be a star in the NFL. However, he has been limited by concussions and New Orleans’ poor offense.
Adding him to an offense that boasts Metcalf and [potentially] Rodgers could help him have a bounce-back year.
