It is now June 1, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on an answer from four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers regarding his plans for the 2025 season. As has been the case for weeks now, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer has two options: retire from the NFL or sign with the Steelers. Indeed, Pittsburgh appears to have hitched their wagon to Rodgers, neglecting the quarterback position aside from selecting Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

As it stands, the Steelers have begun OTA’s with Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Howard as their quarterbacks. And even though they have said that they are comfortable going into the season with Rudolph as the starter, very few believe them.

That being said, at least all three of them have already committed to the team.

For his part, Rodgers has explained his delay in making a decision on the fact that multiple people whom he is close to are currently battling cancer. And while that is both understandable and unfortunate, the Steelers have a season for which to prepare, and the players are desperate for an end to this situation.

Speaking on the “Rich Eisen Show” earlier this week, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that multiple players within the Steelers locker room are already over the Rodgers saga.

“There are people in that locker room who I believe would tell you they’re already over this thing,” Pelissero said. “They just wanna know what’s going on. And they’re sick of hearing about it, and they’re sick of being asked about it. They don’t want to discuss it anymore.

“I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he’s coming. There’s all these signs that he’s coming but he has not affirmatively said ‘Hey, June 9 book me the ticket. I’m coming in and I’m going to join this team.’ That has not happened as of this point.”

Earlier this past week, a video clip surfaced of Rodgers saying he would never play for the Chicago Bears, but that “there is a team” going there on a “road trip” later this year. Pittsburgh travels to Chicago in Week 12.

The Steelers are holding mandatory mini camp on June 10, less than two weeks from the time of this writing. It will interesting to see if Rodgers signs and shows up.
