For weeks, the NFL world, and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, have been awaiting Aaron Rodgers to make a final decision regarding his plans for the 2025 season. The future Pro Football Hall of Famer was released by the New York Jets following two tumultuous years with the franchise, which saw them go 7-10 without an injured Rodgers in 2023 and 5-12 with him healthy in 2024.
As has been the case for several years, Rodgers is currently weighing his options regarding his future. The 41-year-old has played 20 NFL seasons, and they have certainly taken their toll.
Retirement, of course, is on the table. But so is playing the 2025 NFL season with the Steelers, the only team in the league that was seriously interested in him following his release.
The Pittsburgh Steelers See Aaron Rodgers Join a Local Golf Country Club

While Steelers ownership has expressed optimism that the four-time NFL MVP will sign with the team, fans are not as confident. With every day that passes by, they grow more and more concerned about Pittsburgh’s quarterback situation, especially since they did not take a quarterback until the sixth round of this year’s draft.
But Andrew Fillipponi recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Rodgers has allegedly joined Nevillewood Country Club, which is located near Pittsburgh. “Aaron Rodgers has allegedly joined Nevillewood Country Club. The beautiful suburban Pittsburgh golf course. Designed by Jack Nicklaus. Another sign he’s signing with the Steelers,” Fillipponi posted.
Rodgers, of course, is an avid golfer and has competed in several celebrity tournaments and PGA celebrity events. While this is not definitive, it is yet another positive sign for Steelers fans that they will land Rodgers before too long.
Many suspect that he is waiting for the NFL schedule to drop on May 14 so that Pittsburgh does not get inundated with a plethora of prime time games, which have late start times (something Rodgers has bemoaned in the past).
