Aaron Rodgers will continue his Hall of Fame-worthy football career in 2025, this time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player ultimately decided not to retire, signing a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Steelers, who will get to see just how much gas really is left in the tank of Rodgers.
Whether Rodgers still has it or not is something that remains to be seen. But based on his 2024 performance with the New York Jets, it’s fair to say that Rodgers can be an above-average presence under center for Pittsburgh, which won 10 games in the 2024 NFL campaign with Russell Wilson mostly as the Steelers’ QB starter.
In 2024, Rodgers threw for a total of 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions through 17 games. For what it’s worth, Rodgers, 41, passed for more touchdowns last season than the likes of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jordan Love and Justin Herbert.

Pittsburgh Steelers make one-word definitive Rodgers post after deal
On Saturday, the Steelers shared an edited photo of Rodgers in a No. 8 Pittsburgh jersey along with a caption that simply read: “8️⃣ official 🫡.” Apparently, Rodgers will continue to wear the same jersey number he had with the Jets. He also donned No. 8 threads in college with the California Golden Bears before going with No. 12 during his time with the Green Bay Packers.

Fans had plenty of reactions to that post by the Steelers:
“2nd greatest Super Bowl winning QB to wear number 8 for the Steelers”
“Honestly as steelers fans lets be honest…this is truly better than we had”
“You’re telling me we didn’t retire 8 for Kenny “Super Bowl” Pickett??”
“I don’t like the move but at least he’ll be better than the previous 8.”
“If you don’t think this an upgrade from what he previously had idk what to tell you 🤷🏻♂️”
“I finally can change my Pickett jersey to rodgers”
