With a huge chip on their shoulder, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking forward to the 2024 season. After going 10-1 to start the season, the Eagles collapsed in the second half. The team not only finished 11-6, but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
In 2024, revenge will be the theme (at least the Eagles hope), but there will be at least one veteran who won’t be there.
The Philadelphia Eagles Release Offensive Veteran
As the Eagles prepare for the preseason finale against Minnesota, C.J. Uzomah has been released from the 53-man roster.
In March, the Jets released Uzomah, saving them approximately $5.3 million. A cap hit of $11.2 million was scheduled for the 31-year-old.
In April, the veteran tight end signed a one-year contract with Philadelphia.
Last season, Uzomah recorded just eight receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown, and was passed by Tyler Conklin on the depth chart. Uzomah didn’t have a catch after Week 10 and was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 6 with a knee injury and missed the final five games.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Uzomah in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Auburn. His first seven seasons were spent with the Bengals. Over the course of his career, he has caught 192 passes for 1,881 yards and 16 touchdowns.
