The Philadelphia Eagles did not get a tight end in the recently concluded 2025 NFL draft, which can be some sort of good news for veteran TE Dallas Goedert in terms of his outlook with the team.
However, Goedert’s status with the reigning Super Bowl champions Eagles still appears like it is up in the air, following recent comments by Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman.
“Dallas is part of the team as we speak,” Roseman said when asked if the TE-free draft class changes anything, per team transcript. “Obviously, as we go forward, we’re going to continue to address things on this team and right now nothing further.”
Roseman didn’t say much about where the Eagles and Goedert stand at the moment, though, he gave the tight end his flowers.
“Dallas is a heck of a player — a heck of a player, a heck of a person,” Roseman said. “Certainly don’t want to do anything publicly where we’re discussing anyone’s business, but I have so much respect for him. Been to two Super Bowls together and obviously would love him on this team. You always love having Dallas on this team, but we’re not there right now on any of that. But, love Dallas Goedert.”
Will Goedert return to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Goedert has played his entire career in the NFL thus far with the Eagles. He was taken by Philadelphia in the second round (49th overall) of the 2018 NFL draft.
In 2024, Goedert, who is entering the final year of his current contract with a cap hit of $11.764 million (but with no guaranteed money), had 496 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 42 receptions across 10 games.
