There has been a lot of discussion centering around Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown since the 2023 season ended. However, that has taken a back seat for some Eagles fans, as the NFL Draft is less than a week away.
With that said, one local sports radio station proposed a wild trade involving Brown. What was it? How crazy is it? Find out below.
Local Sports Radio Station Suggests Trading Brown for #3 Pick
The 94WIP Midday Show put out a very interesting poll on Twitter for their listeners. Keep in mind that this is a Philadelphia radio station, so most listeners are Eagles fans.
They put up a question and two options to vote on in the poll. The question was the following:
“Would you trade AJ Brown to the Patriots for the 3rd overall pick in the draft?”
Then, they allowed followers to vote either “yes” or “no.” At the time of writing, there have been nearly 6,500 votes in this poll. However, most fans are not in favor of such a trade. Nearly 65% of respondents voted “no” in the poll.
How Crazy Is This Trade?
So, what is the logic when it comes to proposing a wild trade like this? Well, the idea would presumably be to draft a new wide receiver. Brown is due to make nearly $47 million over the next three years. However, the Eagles have an out before the 2025 season begins and before the most expensive years of the contract hit.
Another financial note to touch on is the contract the Eagles just gave to WR DeVonta Smith. Philadelphia reportedly just gave him an additional $75 million.
Admittedly, there is one good option to do just that. The Eagles would assumably draft Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State if they moved up to the #3 overall pick.
Philadelphia Eagles Drama
The Eagles certainly had a lot of drama to end the 2023 season. There was a reported conflict between QB Jalen Hurts and former OC Brian Johnson. Eventually, Johnson lost his job and Kellen Moore ended up replacing him.
At one time, people also thought there was a beef between Hurts and Brown. However, Brown made it clear that these were merely rumors. However, it is important to note that the Eagles had a big collapse to end last season, going just 1-5 in their last six games. Because of this, there will likely be close eyes on Philadelphia to start the 2024 NFL season.
