The Penn State Nittany Lions will have at least two players selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Highlighting their top prospect, who is expected to be taken within the first four picks, is EDGE rusher Abdul Carter. Carter is coming off a breakout junior season in which he converted from off-ball linebacker to a full-time pass rusher. He dominated the competition, even battling a nagging left shoulder injury later in the year, as well as a newly discovered injury at the combine.

The Penn State Nittany Lions defender has a foot issue

During the NFL Scouting Combine, medical tests revealed that Abdul Carter had a stress reaction in his right foot. Carter had the option to either undergo surgery and insert a screw into his foot to stabilize it, resulting in an eight-week recovery time or avoid surgery and conservatively manage the injury. Ultimately, he chose the latter and did not participate in on-field workouts during Penn State’s Pro Day.
He gets a massive update

According to Adam Schefter via his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Abdul Carter’s medical recheck in Indianapolis went well, showing that the stress reaction in his right foot is healing. Carter has shown significant improvement over the past month and a half, and he will not need surgery. Rosenhaus believes that his foot injury will not cause him to slide in the upcoming draft, and teams view it as a non-factor.
