Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have been accused of currying favor with the NFL officials, especially after their win against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game. While many NFL fans have come out in accusation of the team, others have been supporting the team, especially Mahomes, with some even terming it to be jealousy.
Tedy Bruschi, former linebacker for the New England Patriots, recently dropped his opinion on the matter in an interview with Boston Globe. According to Bruschi, the Chiefs didn’t win because of the penalties granted by the refs, but simply because they are the next greatest team in the NFL.
“I laugh when I hear people crying about the refs,” Tedy Bruschi said. “When I see these other players getting stupid penalties and doing out-of-character things, it’s the pressure that they can’t deal with, being in moments that they don’t understand. I definitely see it (with the Chiefs). They’re the next iteration or whatever of us.” Tedy Bruschi said to the Boston Globe.
Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Conference Championships. In that game, the Chiefs managed to win the game with a final score of 32-29. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went for 245 yards in that game, completing 18 passes out of 26 attempts, scoring once.
Patrick Mahomes Discusses Being Called Villains In NFL
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes addressed being called villains in the NFL, along with the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Mahomes, he and the rest of the Chiefs are simply accepting who they are, especially since they believe that they play the game in the right manner.
“I don’t even think it’s embracing being the villains. We embrace who we are. We believe we play the game the right way. We believe we play with a lot of heart and a lot of passion for the game. And we win football games, and if winning football games makes you a villain, we’re going to keep going out there and doing it.”
Despite Patrick Mahomes remarking that he does not accept the fact they are ‘villains’ in the league, there are still many other footballers who spoke out differently. For instance, Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, commented that he enjoyed being termed as ‘villain’ in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs will be soon seen in action against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
