Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have become a hot topic of conversation around the NFL. After looking hopeless just over a month ago, they have rattled off three straight wins and would be in the NFC playoffs if the season ended today. Not only have they been able to turn things around, but the rest of their schedule is winnable and they have a great opportunity to keep winning.
Last week, the Packers pulled off a massive upset over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. They made it look convincing, dominating the game from start to finish and ended up winning by a final score of 27-19.
Looking ahead to Week 14, the Packers are set to travel to New York to face off against the Giants on Monday Night Football. That should be a win as well if they take care of business.
Arguably the biggest bright spot during this winning streak has been the play of Love. He has proven that he’s capable of being the Packers’ long-term franchise quarterback. Love has also been showing off many similarities between himself and Aaron Rodgers.
Packers Writer Thinks Jordan Love Could Enter MVP Conversation
Due to his impressive play of late, there is one Packers’ writer who believes that Love is not far away from being included in the conversation for the NFL MVP award. That writer is Luke Sims of Zone Coverage.
While he throws Love’s name in the ring for the award, he does admit that it’s very unlikely that the Green Bay quarterback would win the award when everything is said and done.
“Love is on pace to have the yards to qualify for MVP. However, he’ll have to rack up touchdowns in the last five weeks of the season while taking care of the ball to stay in the MVP conversation. Is Jordan Love going to win the NFL MVP this year? No, probably not. Love would have to put together a pretty incredible run to close out the season to win MVP. Still, the fact that we’re even considering him to be in the conversation would have sounded heinous just a few weeks ago.”
During his last three games, Love has completed 68.5 percent of his pass attempts for 857 yards, eight touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He has also recorded a 116.9 passer rating in those games. Those are the numbers that MVP quarterbacks put up.
Even thinking that Love is playing like an MVP-caliber quarterback is a major plus for the Packers. They can now focus on adding as much talent around him as possible. Of course, they’ll also have to pay to keep him long-term.
All of that being said, things are looking bright in Green Bay. The Packers have rebuild their roster quickly and should be back in contention in the NFC soon, possibly even this year. It will be interesting to see how Love and company finish out the regular season.
