The sudden death of Chase Stegall, a soccer player for DePaul University and the son of former Packer and Bengals wide receiver Milton Stegall, has been reported:
Chase was found dead inside his dormitory at DePaul, having passed away on Monday, according to the school newspaper DePaulia.
In an email to everyone at the school, Rob Manuel, the university president, said the student athlete was “known for his warmth, strength of character, and vibrant presence.”
Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy and head men’s soccer coach Mark Plotkin also made a joint statement, noting how heartbroken they were by the loss. They described Chase Stegall as a “dedicated teammate and kind-hearted friend.”
“His loss will be deeply felt across our entire Athletics and university family and his memory will forever be a part of DePaul University,” they added.

Chase was only 20.
He is survived by his parents, Milton and Darlene Stegal, and brother Collin.
Chase played in 16 of DePaul’s 17 games last season.
The CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where his father was a star, also released a statement, referring to Chase as a bright and talented player with a promising future, adding that “his loss is felt deeply across our entire Blue Bombers family.”
“Our hearts go out to Milt, Darlene, and the entire Stegall family during this unimaginable time. We mourn with them and extend our deepest condolences, love, and support,” their post reads.
