The Cleveland Browns had some surprises in the 2025 NFL draft. Apart from trading down from the No. 2 spot, the Browns were the team that ended the long wait for Shedeur Sanders’ name to be called, taking the former Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback in the fifth round.
But Sanders also was not the first QB taken off the board by Cleveland. Before Sanders, the Browns selected former Oregon Ducks star QB Dillon Gabriel in the third round (94th overall).
After Gabriel’s name was called, Oregon posted a video of the moment he was picked by the AFC North division team.
“What a moment for Dillon Gabriel,” the caption of the post read.
Gabriel spent just a season with the Ducks in his college career, but he left a mark in Eugene. In the 2024 college football campaign, he threw for 3,857 passing yards and 30 touchdowns against only six interceptions on a 72.9 percent completion rate, while helping Oregon reach the College Football Playoff.
Fans react to Oregon Ducks’ Dillon Gabriel post

Oregon’s post garnered lots of reactions from fans online. Here are some of them:
“I guess I will be watching the Browns next season too! Along with the Commanders, the Chargers, and the Broncos!”
“🦆 never did I ever think I’d root for an Ohio team. But here we are! 💛💚”
“Dylan gabriel passing to harold fannin will be amazing next year”
“People hated on Nix also and he had a solid rocket year, Dillon is the kinda guy high completion percentage, leader, and experienced. I could see him doing well like nix so far has (small sample size) but very coachable and will work hard and watch a lot of film.”
“He’s about to save a franchise. Go Ducks!”
