The Cleveland Browns selected quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third-round of the 2025 NFL Draft and then selected quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Some people were shocked that Gabriel was selected ahead of Sanders and some people were shocked that Sanders slid down all the way to the fifth round.

The Browns will have one of the fiercest quarterback competitions in recent training camp memory. There is no doubt that Cleveland is going to have the best quarterback battle in training camp. Along with Sanders and Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Deshaun Watson are the other quarterbacks on the Browns roster.
Former NFL Quarterback Talks About the Chances Shedeur Sanders Has To Make Team Over Dillon Gabriel

It is not a foregone conclusion that Sanders is going to make the Browns team coming out of training camp. With Cleveland having five quarterbacks on the roster, it will be interesting to see which three quarterbacks head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry decide to keep on the roster. Hopefully, owner Jimmy Haslam doesn’t stick his nose into the decisions that they will need to make.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel was on The Facility on Fox Sports 1 and talked about Sanders’s expectations with the Browns entering the 2025 NFL season. Daniel said,
“Starting should not be anywhere on his mind. His whole goal is to make the roster. Your competition is Dillion Gabriel.”
This is the correct answer from Daniel. Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett will most likely be quarterback number one heading into training camp. The Browns appear to be done with Deshaun Watson. Cleveland’s last quarterback spot will either go to Gabriel or Sanders most likely. There are a lot of things that can happen between now and training camp.
