Oklahoma football will play in a bowl game this season, extending their postseason streak to 26 seasons. In their first season in the hyper-competitive SEC, the Oklahoma Sooners were 4-4. Still, a massive upset win against the Alabama Crimson Tide late in the season punched their ticket to bowl eligibility. However, many of Oklahoma’s offensive weapons from the 2024 season will not suit up in whichever bowl the Sooners make, including their star tight end.
On Saturday, tight end Bauer Sharp entered the transfer portal during championship weekend, following quarterback Jackson Arnold. A transfer from Southeastern Louisiana, Sharp drew significant interest last offseason before landing in Norman, Oklahoma. Yet, Sharp had some difficulties transitioning into the SEC, with Oklahoma football fans split after his transfer.
Oklahoma Football Fans Fractured On Bauer Sharp Transfer
According to On3 via Twitter:
BREAKING: Oklahoma starting TE Bauer Sharp plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports
The 6’4 245 TE totaled 42 Receptions, 324 Yards, & 2 TDs this season. Led the team in receptions & yards with 1 year of eligibility remaining.
On Saturday, Oklahoma football tight end Bauer Sharp sent the program faithful into a frenzy, announcing his transfer. With Oklahoma routinely operating without their top five wide receivers this season, Sharp led the team with 42 receptions and 324 yards. He also caught two touchdown passes. Before Oklahoma, Sharp spent three seasons with Southeastern Louisiana, catching 29 passes for 288 yards and three scores. He also rushed 25 times for 133 yards and five touchdowns.
A four-star transfer recruit per 247Sports, Sharp will leave Oklahoma football after just one season. He enters the portal the same week as quarterback Jackson Arnold. Nevertheless, some Oklahoma football fans wished Sharp the best of luck with the remainder of his college career, while others bashed him for his drops this season:
