The blows just keep coming for Ohio State. After losing to Michigan for the third straight year and a couple of players entering the transfer portal, their 2024 recruiting class took a hit. Defensive lineman Justin Scott decommitted from Ohio State and signed on with the Miami Hurricanes.

Ohio State Loses DL Justin Scott To Miami
According to On3, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound defensive lineman is the No. 11 player overall and the top player in the state of Illinois. He has been committed to the Buckeyes since July but on Wednesday decided he wanted to flip. Scott had this to say in a statement.
“From the first time they offered me to now they have never changed. Even when I committed they still recruited me and emphasized the need for my position there. I’ve built so many strong relationships there as well with everybody on the staff.”
Scott was impressed with Miami’s coaching staff and the staff never gave up. Now they landed one of the top recruits in the 2024 cycle.
Big Blow For The Buckeyes
This is not a great look for Ryan Day. His coaching prowess has come under fire after losing to Michigan and now some may be questioning his recruiting skills. This isn’t completely fair to Day. According to 247, the program still has the second-ranked recruiting class for 2024 behind only Georgia. The program will likely be fine but a top-20 recruit flipping is not what any program wants to hear.
The Buckeyes will move on with Justin Scott. At this point, the focus is likely on the transfer portal and adding talent there.
