ESPN’s Paul Finebaum Makes Crazy Comments About Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach Ryan Day

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day shakes hands with Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore following the NCAA football game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. Michigan won 13-10.

On Tuesday morning, he was on the show Get Up on ESPN with Mike Greenberg. Paul Finebaum was on the show with Heather Dinch and they were asked about what it would take for Day to keep his job with the Buckeyes. Finebaum said:

“Well, first of all, I don’t believe any athletic director’s statement of support. That same athletic director, Greeny, Ross Bjork he was at Texas A&M two years ago, he was with Jimbo Fisher until he fired him and gave him a $76 million payoff. So that’s just complete balderdash. The bottom line is he has to make a serious run as Heather said. First round knockout? I’d fire him on the field before he gets to the midfield,” he said. “I still think he probably ought to go, I mean this guy has been a very good coach, he’s 66-10. But when you lose to your rival every single year four straight, so we’re talking about three revenge games and the same results happens, especially this year, it’s time to start packing.”

A lot of Ohio State Buckeyes fans are fed up with Ryan Day as head coach and they want to move in a different direction. When the college football playoffs bracket comes out on Sunday, it will be interesting to see who Ohio State will face in the first round.

Fans React

If the Buckeyes win it all, then Day will probably not be fired. Anything short of that will probably result in a firing. The last thing Ohio State needs is a home first-round playoff game and then pull out another dud and the fans start chanting fire Ryan Day. That would be the worst thing to happen for them.
