The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are having a great offseason so far. Last season, they simply lacked the talent in order to compete with the elite teams of college football. Head coach Marcus Freeman is making sure that every position is solidified for 2024. Former South Carolina kicker Mitch Jeter announced that he is committing to come to South Bend next year.

Notre Dame Lands K Mitch Jeter From The Transfer Portal
The Fighting Irish are getting a very accurate kicker in Jeter. Over the past two seasons, he is 23/25 on field goals (92.5%) and 75/78 on extra points (96.1%). He has proven he can hit long kicks as well with a career-long of 53 yards. We have seen too many college football teams have everything banging on all cylinders only for the kicker to be inept. While this won’t be the splashiest signing of the offseason, it is an important one.
2024 Outlook
Things are looking up in South Bend. Riley Leonard committed to the program this week giving the program their quarterback for 2024. Then, Freeman landed two dynamic wide receivers to help give some explosiveness to the offense. In the changing college football landscape, Notre Dame is clearly still a premier destination for teams.
Can the Fighting Irish get back into the College Football Playoff conversation? The expanded playoffs help and with the talent coming in, they should be in the mix for a spot.
