The Michigan Wolverines 2024 season was not exactly a memorable one, but there was a memorable moment that may not be happening for this football program ever again. After Michigan pulled off a stunning 13-10 upset on the road during the 2024 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road at Buckeye Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, the Wolverines planted a flag at midfield.

This led to an all-out brawl between Michigan and Ohio State players. Michigan finished with a 7-5 record during the 2024 season. Head coach Sherrone Moore is looking for a better 2025 season with the Wolverines. He spoke to the media during BIG10 Media Day as well.
Michigan Wolverines Head Coach Sherrone Moore Makes His Stance Clear About Flag Planting During the 2025 College Football Season

Michigan hopes to win more than seven games during the 2025 regular season. They have been planting flags after wins usually, including the Ohio State win on the road last season. This year however, Marrone has changed his tone in regards to flag planting. He said to the media,
“There will be no more flag planting.”
Well, it is a good thing for Michigan that they decided to do this. The scenes got so ugly last year that pepper spray had to be used to separate the brawl. The loss only helped Ohio State in the long run and had a player’s only meeting before the playoffs. They eventually won the national title.
The Buckeyes and the Wolverines have won the last two titles in college football. These two fierce BIG10 rivals will be squaring off once again late in the season. Michigan has won its last four matchups against Ohio State. If the Wolverines were to win again in 2025 against the Buckeyes, there will be no flag planting and that will be smart for the long haul for this football program.
