Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House on Monday, where United States President Donald Trump greeted them.
During his speech, Trump appeared to claim that he once told the running back’s former team, the New York Giants, not to let go of Barkley.
“I was with the Giants and the head coach and some people and I said, ‘Do anything you have to, but don’t lose Saquon.’” Trump said of Barkley (h/t Front Office Sports).
“They lost Saquon. That was not good. I called that one. That was an easy one to call because he played damn well for the Giants, I can tell you that,” the president said.
Donald Trump called out over Saquon Barkley claim

Apparently, Trump’s claim reached Giants spokesperson Pat Hanlon, who told Front Office Sports that no such discussion between New York and the former “The Apprentice” star took place.
Hanlon also shared a blunt message via a post on X (formerly Twitter): “With all due respect, stop yapping. Be the leader we all want you to be. And my 401K wants you to be. I’m trying to retire!! @realDonaldTrump”
In any case, it is hard to deny that Barkley was a big loss for the Giants, who opted to let him hit the free-agent market in 2024 than give him the deal that would have kept him in New York. In Barkley;s first season with the Eagles, he rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries.
