Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Jerry Jones May Reunite With Former Player To Team Up With CeeDee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys may soon bring in Amari Cooper, who previously played for the team, as a pairing for CeeDee Lamb, according to recent rumors. Cooper played for the Cowboys from 2018 to 2021 before being traded to the Cleveland Browns. Last year, the wide receiver played for the Buffalo Bill and is currently a free agent.

The Cowboys were definitely eyeing Tetairao McMillan in the 2025 NFL draft. However, the 22-year-old Arizona alumnus was snagged by the Carolina Panthers as the eighth overall pick in the very first round of the draft. According to a press conference that Dallas owner Jerry Jones had after the draft was over, it looks like the team is trying to bring in a veteran player who is a free agent, like Amari Cooper, to complete their team.

“It definitely was a big-time thought, but the train has not left the station if improvement is needed from what we’ve got on campus. It’s a year-round deal, but we don’t have to be through at receiver in any way. As we got on into the draft, the likelihood of creating competition if we did something in free agency started making the depth we’ve got on the roster right now that might be competitive if we brought someone that was obvious to everybody that he’s your second man.” Jerry Jones said to reporters after the 2025 NFL draft.

The Dallas Cowboys did not do so well last year, especially after QB Dak Prescott had a season-ending hamstring injury. In the 2024 NFL season, the team finished third in the NFC East after winning seven games and losing ten. The Cowboys played their very last game against the Washington Commanders, losing 23-19.

On another note, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys team, seems to be all in awe of Tyler Booker, one of the newest team members. Booker was selected by the Cowboys as the 12th pick in the very first round of the draft.

Jones later said to reporters that he sees a lot of Michael Irvin, who formerly played for the team and created a lasting legacy of his own in the Cowboys, in Booker. Irvin played for Dallas from 1988 to 1999 and won the Super Bowl thrice with the team. Despite Irvin and Booker playing two different positions, Jones went on to remark that the latter has similar leadership qualities as the now-retired player.
