The Los Angeles Rams are looking to shore up their offensive line ahead of what they’re hoping will be a bounceback campaign in 2023. Apparently, they have had their eye on incoming fourth-year OL Kevin Dotson, and it was reported on Sunday evening that LA had struck a trade deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the services of the 26-year-old.
Steelers Trade Kevin Dotson to Rams for Pick Swaps
League insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network first broke the news on Twitter:
“Trade: The #Rams are trading for #Steelers guard Kevin Dotson, source said. Added OL depth for LA,” Rapoport wrote in his tweet.

Further reports indicate that the Rams have agreed to swap picks with the Steelers in exchange for Dotson:
“Steelers are trading OL Kevin Dotson to the Rams, sources tell ESPN. Trade also comes with picks swap. Steelers and Rams swap 2024 4th and 5th. Steelers get the Rams’ 4th; and Rams get the Steelers’ 5th. In 2025, Steelers get Rams’ 5th rounder, and Rams get Steelers’ 6th,” tweeted ESPN’s Brook Pryor.
This isn’t exactly a high-impact trade for the Rams, and Dotson isn’t likely to be the X-Factor that delivers LA back to the promised land. However, LA could sure use some added depth to their offensive line, and Dotson’s versatility may have been a key factor in the Rams’ decision to trade for him. The former Louisiana native is a young and physical guard who excels in both pass protection and run blocking.
It is worth noting, however, that Dotson is currently in the final season of his rookie deal, with the Rams now owing him $2.7 million this coming season. He’s going to be a free agent next summer, so unless he signs a new contract with LA, he could end up being a one-year rental for coach Sean McVay and Co.
