The NFL Super Bowl is just one week away, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his family got brutal news as they prepare for the big game. Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested for a DUI charge and his mugshot is going viral. This is quickly becoming one of the famous sports mugshots in history, and it is not a great look for the Chiefs quarterback as he prepares to win his third Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested and is looking at many different possible consequences as this is now his third time being arrested for a DUI. His mugshot has been going viral and is possibly going to be one of the famous sports mugshots joining Tiger Woods, Johnny Manziel, and Ryan Leaf.
According to the law offices of Ned Barnett, a third DWI arrest in the state of Texas can have major ramifications and even jail time. Quoting Andrew Holleran of the Spun Sports:
- A fine up to $10,000
- A driver’s license suspension up to 2 years, beginning after your imprisonment
- A three-year annual surcharge fee of up to $2,000 to keep your driver’s license
- Installation of an ignition interlock device on every vehicle you drive
- Up to 10 years in prison, or a minimum of 10 days in jail if probation is granted
These are no minor chargers and this all comes just one week before his son is going to play in his fourth Super Bowl. While fans have been shocked by this news, the mugshot has been taking the internet by storm.
Mahomes Sr. Joins Tiger Woods and Johnny Manziel In The Latest Viral Mugshot
Mahomes Sr. now joins many notable sports celebrities having their mugshot go viral. If convicted, Mahomes Sr. will face very serious chargers and possible jail time. All of this comes just a week before the Super Bowl, and Patrick will have to be able to block out all of these distractions in his biggest game of his career.
Patrick has had to struggle with family distractions before big games in his career, and he has been very successful in blocking out his families noise and playing his best in the big games. Mahomes had notable distractions with his wife and brother beefing with fans and other family arrests. Yet he still manages to bring his best game when these distractions happen.
It is quite shocking that the best player in the league is constantly surrounded by so much family distraction and negative activity, and yet he comes to play his best football. Even with all of that the man blocks out these distractions and comes to play his best. You have to give the man credit for being able to deal with the constant issues his family has and having the professionalism to be able to compartmentalize his life to his craft.
While many players may be distracted from something like this, I would trust that Patrick will be at his best in one week for the Super Bowl. While Patrick will shine, his father may be in deep trouble for his third violation of DUI.

Patrick, don’t let this that your father did get in your head and mess you up. He knew what he was doing when he made his choice to do it. YOU DO YOU at the Super Bowl and play with a clear, determined mind. Get your dad the help he needs, whether he admits he needs it or not (he knows he does.) My dad drank my older brother and my entire life as we were growing up, so I know it’s hard to get out of your head, but our mom did a great job of that with us. I feel your pain, and pray God will give you what you need to get through this. Love you, man. Stay strong and GO CHIEFS!
