NFL ownership groups each give $1 million (Totaling $5 million) to support communities ravaged by Los Angeles wildfires. Teams such as the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, and the NFL Foundation are spearheading these contributions which will allow necessary resources to local organizations that are in need and are impacted by this horrible natural disaster.

Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, said the league was committed to that: “We are heartbroken by the losses in Los Angeles and inspired by the bravery of first responders, residents.” The NFL family is dedicated to supporting these communities during this challenging time.”

    Wildfire Key Contributions and Initiatives

    • Los Angeles Rams: The Rams and the Kroenke Family donated $1 million through a partnership with the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the American Red Cross to help first responders and displaced families.
    • Los Angeles Chargers: Supporting the American Red Cross, LAFD Foundation, Team Rubicon, and pet rescue organizations, the Chargers are helping shelter animals and assist affected residents.
    • Minnesota Vikings: The Wilf Family Foundation pledged a $1 million matching donation to amplify on-the-ground relief efforts.
    • Houston Texans: Donated $1 million to assist first responders and displaced individuals.
    • NFL Foundation: The league’s philanthropic arm matched club donations with an additional $1 million contribution, further extending the reach of these relief efforts.

In addition to monetary contributions Rams and Chargers players, coaches, and staff will also be wearing custom LAFD apparel, with proceeds from sales to benefit wildfire relief organizations. The American Red Cross will also benefit from the game-worn items from these games being auctioned off.

The NFL’s effort serves as a very powerful example of how sports can be such a powerful force in building community resilience and hope through times of crisis as fires continue to threaten lives and homes.

If you wish to support wildfire relief efforts, consider donating to the American Red Cross at redcross.org/NFL. Every contribution helps rebuild lives and communities.
