The NFL world is in shock over the New York Jets firing their head coach Robert Saleh just five games into the season. Apparently, Saleh was just as shocked as the rest of the NFL fans about getting fired, and he was even taken out of the building by security in the middle of his workday. Multiple reports have come out now that reveal Saleh’s reaction to the firing.
Robert Saleh ‘Stunned’ and ‘Disappointed’ by Firing

On Tuesday morning, following the Jets’ loss in London and falling to 2-3 on the season, Saleh has officially been fired from the team and Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will take over for now as the interim head coach for the rest of the season. Saleh was absolutely shocked by the move, and there was reportedly no warning for the coach, he was just escorted out of the building:
Per Andrew Gould of The Spun:
The early move caught fans off guard, and the same appears to apply to Saleh. According to FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, Saleh was “blindsided” by Jets owner Woody Johnson delivering the news on Tuesday morning.
“Certainly disappointed he wasn’t going to be given the opportunity to get things going with what he said is a very good roster,” Glazer wrote on social media.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini added that Saleh was “stunned” by his firing. Before getting ousted, he expressed optimism about the Jets rebounding in next Monday night’s pivotal AFC East game against the Buffalo Bills.
Saleh had an overall record of 20-36 in his tenure with the Jets and has had top defenses in the league in every year that he coached. While Saleh has not shown that he is a good coach in the NFL, he has shown that he can coach great defenses. The offense under Aaron Rodgers has been the major issue, and it seems Saleh is taking the fall for their miserable franchise and quarterback.
Their owner Woody Johnson has never fired a coaching the middle of the season, and they have the opportunity to take first place in their division this week with a win against Buffalo.
“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations,” Johnson said in a statement, “and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”
NFL Fans Are Just As Shocked As Robert Saleh

Fans were not only shocked by the firing but even more surprised that the team decided to keep their offensive coordinator Nathanial Hacket. Fans are convinced that the Jets and Rodgers are done after the firing:
“My condolences to all jets fans I know. Damn shame they can’t get rid of the most useless OC in the sport because of their QB,” said one fan.
“Jets dumping their boyfriend but staying friends with the best friend that you know secretly has a crush on Aaron Rodgers, wild,” said another fan.
“Lmao wasn’t offense their whole issue? Rodgers is a joke,” one fan added.
“This is why I wanted no part of Rodgers in Vegas. It’s one thing to accommodate a QB you drafted, you’re investing in future. It’s another thing to accommodate an aging, high maintenance guy w/1-2 yr window,” said another fan.
“So the biggest problem on the coaching staff isn’t going anywhere lol how convenient,” one fan said.
“lol, you send a message of accountability and then show special treatment,” another fan said.
This is nothing short of a disaster for the Jets and their playoff hopes are already done.
