The NFL has reportedly made its decision on what type of punishment Nick Bosa will receive for his political stunt. Bosa, now virally, wore a MAGA hat at the end of last week’s game in the post-conference where he crashed the post-game interview, and that sent fans into a frenzy on social media. With the announcement of a punishment, fans are continuing to talk on social media.

Bosa, the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, made a surprise appearance during NBC’s postgame interview sporting a “Make America Great Again” hat. When reporters attempted to question him about the statement he was making, he chose not to brush it aside and not really make a comment:

“I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,” Bosa said postgame.

A few days later, it appears a penalty may be on the horizon for the 49ers defensive end. NFL insider Jonathan Jones reports that while Bosa won’t face a suspension for his post-game actions following the Dallas Cowboys matchup, the league is considering issuing a fine to the former Ohio State standout.

“The NFL is looking into Nick Bosa wearing a MAGA hat Sunday postgame. There will not be a determination on any potential fine until later next week. I’m told there is no consideration for any potential suspension,” Jones reported.

He went on to later add, that the final decision on the punishment would not be announced till after the election:

“The NFL does have a rule on the books prohibiting players from, among other things, wearing or displaying messages ‘which relate to political activities or causes.’ Based on the timeline from a source, appears if any punishment for Bosa comes, it will be after Election Day,” he said.

Fans quickly weighed in with mixed reactions. Some feel he deserves a harsher penalty, while others think it’s no big deal—despite an NFL rule prohibiting political statements.

“Does the NFL really want to open up that can of worms?” one person asked.

“There are rules against it. The penalty is a fine. He will be fined. I don’t see the big issue other than people suddenly find selective outrage when the specific slogan is something they disagree with, on either side,” suggested another.

“As punishment he should be forced to relocate to the Titans. I don’t make the rules!” joked a hopeful Titans fan.

“I speak for everyone when I say he should be suspended for the rest of the season” offered another.

“oh but if it was a BLM hat he would never be allowed to play in the NFL again,” said another.

Fans are inconsistent when it comes to things like this, when the athlete agrees with the fan’s political beliefs they love these things, and when they don’t, fans hate it and want them to shut up and just be an athlete.

When it comes to something like this, fans want Bosa to receive the punishment for breaking the league rules, and he will probably face the appropriate punishment after the election. According to the rules, this does not warrant a suspension even if some fans want that. He will certainly receive a fine for this, as per league rules.
