NFL fans have had a lot to say on Wednesday about the move Daniel Jones made signing with a new team the Minnesota Vikings. It did not take long for Jones to find a new home after he was quickly benched and then released by the New York Giants just days ago.
To go to a 9-2 team to be a backup is not the worst thing for Jones at all, and fans are already all thinking the same thing, that Jones wants a revival similar to the Vikings starter Sam Darnold. The Vikings are becoming the safe haven for New York quarterbacks who did not pan out and the fans are loving it.
Daniel Jones Takes Massive Pay Cut To Sign With Vikings
On Wednesday, the news broke that Jones will officially be taking his talents to the 9-2 Vikings as they make their playoff push to end the season, but Jones signed the cheapest deal possible to be with the team.
Former #Giants QB Daniel Jones plans to sign with the #Vikings practice squad, after having cleared waivers, per me, @TomPelissero and @CameronWolfe.

Fans have all had comedic reactions to the Vikings becoming the haven for New York quarterbacks:
“He thinks he’s gonna get the Darnold revival,” one user remarked.
“Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold have officially started a New York NFL QB support group. Home base, the Vikings Quarterback room,” wrote another.
“If you had told me at the beginning of this season that Sam Darnold would lead this team to start 9-2 and Daniel Jones would be his backup, I would have told you to stop smoking crack and seek help,” a third joked.
Jones officially signed a one-year, $375,000 contract, which is tens of millions less than what he was playing for with the Giants. Jones will become a free agent after this season and his future is uncertain so it makes sense that he would sign for the minimum to finish out this season. Jones is still able to sign with another team within the next three weeks per Adam Schefter.
Still, fans could not get over how fast a player can go from making tens of millions to the league minimum:
“Another savvy move by DJ,” a user said. “MIN likely didn’t want a 2 year contract now so as not to alienate SD. If DJ does play in 2024, he can increase his FA market value (which MIN would likely regret for not giving him a 2nd yr now). If DJ doesn’t play in 2024, no change. #Upside.”
“Oh, I am MORE than fine with this!” Eric Lindquist replied.
“This was what we were waiting to hear,” another commented. “The #Vikings have 3 healthy QBs on their roster right now. This was a move for him to land with a contender as opposed to finding another potential starting job. That’s why he’s on the practice squad to keep that possibility open.”
“Fixing Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones in the same calendar year would be a Hall of Fame accomplishment for Kevin O’Connell.”
The Vikings are more than happy with what Darnols has been able to do this season as they sit with the second-best record in the NFL and in the NFC. Darnold has been playing the best football of his career with 2,700 yards and 21 touchdowns while completing over 67 percent of his passes.
The only way Jones could see the field for the Vikings is if Darnold would get hurt, and that is certainly a possibility. Do you think we will see Jones play at any point the rest of the year?
