NFL and Dallas Cowboys fans are all reacting on social media to the brutal season-ending injury for one of Dallas’s best players in the franchise’s history. They are in the middle of one of their worst seasons in the last few decades, and things are only getting worse.
After a brutal start to their season, the team keeps mounting injuries at crucial positions, and now their most accomplished offensive linemen and one of the greatest linemen in the game’s history suffered a season-ending injury.
Zack Martin Is Out For The Rest Of The NFL Season, Fans Praying He Comes Back
On Thursday the team announced that their future Hall of Fame and All-Pro Offensive guard Zack Martin will undergo season-ending surgery on his ankle. After battling that injury for the whole season he is now going to be done for the year, and perhaps for his career.
This is truly devastating news as Martin has been one of the best in the history of the game, and this may end his career. It is still uncertain if he will retire following this season or try to give it one more year for 2025.
Micah Parsons recently went viral with his comments about Martin, and specifically, he said that this is potentially Martin’s last year in the NFL:
“That’s above my pay grade, if Mike’s coach again next year,” Parsons said. “All coaching aside, Mike can leave and go where he wants to. Guys I kind of feel bad for is guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year, on their way out, because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did. So, those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”
Martin is the longest-tenured player for the Cowboys, as he started his NFL career in 2014. Over this past decade Martin has been an All-[to in seven seasons! He is a lock to make the Hall of Fame, and he is tied for the most All-Pro selections in team history!
After the news broke, fans of the Cowboys and NFL fans in general have all been taking to social media to react to this devasting injury to an all-time player. Martin is one of the most respected players in the game today, and fans from all teams are hoping that they can get to see him for one more season:
“Nature of the NFL– not for long. A decade of dominance and is in the pantheon of Cowboys greats. First ballot HOFer. Hopefully he gets the Walter Payton Man of the Year award,” one fan said.
“I know everyone says he’s done but something tells me he tries to run it back next year if the Cowboys aren’t incompetent in the offseason,” another fan said, holding out hope that Martin would come back for one more year.
“If it’s the end, thank you #70 for everything,” said one Cowboys fan.
“Great career for em, shoe in 1st ballot Hall of Famer but they need to move on from him,” another fan said.
“one of the greatest runs we’ve ever seen. if this is it, he’s the GOAT in my eyes,” one fan said.
“VERY SAD! #3 on my list of Favorite Cowboys Players of All-Time. I think we’ve seen the last of him in a Cowboys uniform,” another fan predicted.
“oh there’s no chance in hell. Hopefully this isn’t the end for him of his career he is such a dog and i wanna see him more before he goes. heartbreaking,” said one Dallas fan.
“If this is the last time I’ll see Martin play I’m going to be sad. One of the greatest Guards in history of the game,” another fan added.
Hopefully, Martin can come back from this injury and play one more year for the Cowboys or another team, but if he indeed decides to retire, he will be remembered as one of the best to ever do it at his position.
