The San Francisco 49ers are sure enough looking for someone to fill Dre Greenlaw’s shoes after the linebacker signed with the Denver Broncos this offseason. According to The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner’s recent NFL mock draft, the 49ers might try to bring in Jihaad Campbell, linebacker for the Alabama Crimson Tide for this very purpose.
Jihaad Campbell played for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2022 to 2024 and managed a total of 55 solo tackles, along with six sacks for the team. Bringing in Campbell will help the San Francisco 49ers bolster their defense. In the 2024 NFL season, Greenlaw managed three solo tackles for the team.
“It’s hard to compare people to Micah Parsons. Campbell isn’t as fast as the Cowboys’ dynamic superstar, but he’s not that far off — and he’s probably at least as explosive. As was the case with Parsons when he came out of college, Campbell hasn’t scratched the surface with regard to all the things he can do on a football field.” Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic said about the San Francisco 49ers and Jihaad Campbell in his recent NFL mock draft.
The San Francisco 49ers will try to do better in the 2025 NFL season after finishing fourth in the NFC West last time out with only six wins and 11 defeats. The 49ers played their very last game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals and were defeated 47-24.

San Francisco 49ers Might Bring In CJ Mosley As Linebacker
Another option that the San Francisco 49ers might consider is linebacker CJ Mosley, a free agent currently. Mosley, despite being a very talented player, unfortunately could not get much playing time as a result of injuries. By getting Mosley on their squad, the San Francisco 49ers will be further bolstering their defense.

Mosley played for the New York Jets in the previous season, who he joined back in 2019. In the 2024 NFL season, the 32-year-old linebacker managed 13 solo tackles for the Jets. Before playing for the Jets, Mosley played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2014 to 2018 after the team selected him as the 17th pick in the very first round of the NFL draft.
Mosley is definitely a veteran and will bring a wealth of experience and expertise, which will be terrific for the inexperienced and younger players. In his NFL career, Mosley has managed to make it to five Pro Bowls and was named to the Second-team All Pro five times.
