On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs revealed the Week 1 injury status of one of their offensive stars. The Chiefs will play the Detroit Lions on Thursday night to kick off the 2023 NFL regular season. The Chiefs had a few players who were questionable to play in the game.
The biggest question for the Chiefs before Thursday revolves around star defensive tackle Chris Jones. Jones appears unwilling to end his holdout with the Chiefs before Thursday’s game. He was absent during the Chiefs’ practice on Wednesday.
Kadarius Toney has also missed most of the Chiefs training camp this summer after sustaining a knee injury on the first day of camp. Toney, who played incredibly for the Chiefs during their Super Bowl run last season, is expected to have a more significant role this season after the departure of JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency.
Kadarius Toney was cleared to play for the Kansas City Chiefs
But the Chiefs were unsure when he’d return from the injury during the preseason. According to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, head coach Andy Reid said Toney was cleared to play against the Lions on Thursday.
Reid adds that with both players, the #Chiefs are still taking it "day by day," but right now it is trending in the right direction.

The Detroit Lions should be on high alert
That’s massive news for the Lions and Chiefs. Toney should allow the Chiefs’ passing offense to stay in top gear against a revamped Lions secondary.
The more weapons quarterback Patrick Mahomes has, the harder it will be for the NFC North favorites to start their season 1-0.
