In very sad news, former NFL and Cleveland Browns legend Bernie Kosar is facing some brutal medical conditions. Many fans of the league, and the history of the league have been on social media sharing their heart felt messages and prayers for the former quarterback.

Kosar was placed on a liver transplant earlier in the year per the Cleveland Magazine. The former star and 60 year old reportedly made numerous recent improvements, but now his doctor has said that, “there’s more than a 90% chance” he’ll end up needing a new liver.

Kosar’s medical challenges thickened when he was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in February. While he has been dealing with all of this, fans have been taking to social media to send their prayers and well wishes to Bernie and his family.

its clear that Kosar had an incredible impact on fans during his time playing, and that has brought out an emotional reaction from fans as he battles these brutal health issues. Here are some of the best fan reactions:

“Prayers to a Cleveland Legend,” a fan wrote.

“Such a hero to Cleveland kids growing up in the ’80s, a great athlete that WANTED to play in Cleveland,” Bill Shea said. “He’s why I always wore 19 in sports.”

“Get well soon,” Ryan Louis wrote.

“Terrible news. One of my idols growing up,” a fan said. “I hope he gets this transplant! Loved him when he did preseason games for the Browns. Dude was as cerebral as it gets on the field.”

Kosar has since opened up about the battle that he has been facing, and he sent an incredibly powerful message about facing these challenges.

Bernie revealed he ahs dealt with liver issues for quite a while, and only began to realize the severity of the issues in early 2023. He was sadly hospitalized prior to the Super Bowl and was therefor unable to attend. Bernie describes that he “felt like death’ months ago, but now he is improving. Kosar said that it has been all about positive thinking in this difficult situation.

“I strongly believe in the power of positive thinking,” Kosar said. “For me, it’s not just a slogan. I believe that positive energy can be manifested in our brains, and I love to live in the space of positivity. I want to think about things that are helpful. It sounds like I’m getting on a soap box here, but I visualize good health. It’s not so much that I’m trying to sell it to myself, or that I’m in denial, as it is choosing to be positive. Because everybody’s got something. We’ve all got health issues to some degree, we all have bumps in the road.”

We are sending our prayers and well wishes to Bernie as well, and hope he has a swift and powerful recovery.
