The New York Jets are 3-8 this season and everything has gone south for them this season. The Jets earlier this season fired head coach Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich became the interim head coach. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not performed well this season after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas has received a lot of heat for a lot of roster decisions as of late. Was he the latest fall guy on this circus show this season?
New York Jets Fire General Manager Joe Douglas
Douglas was in the final year of his contract with New York. Instead of waiting out the 2024 season, the Jets decided to fire general manager Joe Douglas, according to sources who told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. New York could very well get a head start in trying to find their next general manager.
Aaron Rodgers received a lot of heat for firing Saleh and he will receive a lot of heat for the Jets firing Douglas. Joe Douglas was good at drafting, but he whiffed on Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.

A lot of NFL fans know that the problem with the Jets is that owner Woody Johnson is bowing down to whatever quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs. Both of those people have made this organization worse this season. Saleh and Douglas were far from the problem with the Jets. The problem with the team is Aaron Rodgers and he needs to retire.
Douglas may not be a general manager again, but he will definitely be a scout or be in another team’s front office. In all honesty, the Jets may have done him a favor.
