As the 2025 NFL season approaches, experts are weighing in on potential candidates for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Among the top contenders, Ashton Jeanty, the Raiders’ rookie running back, has emerged as a favorite due to his promising skill set and the significant role he is expected to play in Las Vegas’s offense.

Jeanty was selected sixth overall in the recent NFL Draft, marking the highest a running back has been chosen since Saquon Barkley in 2018. His ability to impact the game as both a runner and a receiver positions him well for a standout rookie season. Experts believe that under the guidance of head coach Pete Carroll, Jeanty will have ample opportunities to showcase his talents, making him a strong candidate for the award.

Betting odds reflect Jeanty’s status as a frontrunner, with sportsbooks favoring him over other notable rookies, including Cam Ward, the Titans’ quarterback. While Ward has garnered attention as the first overall pick, Jeanty’s unique skill set in a run-heavy offense gives him an edge. Analysts suggest that if Jeanty can find the end zone frequently and accumulate significant yardage, he will likely secure the award.

Other rookies, such as Travis Hunter from the Jaguars and Omarion Hampton from the Chargers, are also in the mix, but they face challenges that may hinder their chances. Hunter’s dual-role potential as a cornerback and receiver could dilute his offensive numbers. Meanwhile, Hampton will compete for carries in a crowded backfield, which might limit his impact.

As it stands, Jeanty has a good chance to bag a major NFL award for next season. This is detailed more in an analysis by Stephania Bell for ESPN.

Stephania Bell, fantasy football analyst: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders. His name will be called early and often in Las Vegas, giving him the stats to run away with this title. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward will uplift the Titans’ offense enough to put him in contention, but I expect Jeanty to find the end zone a lot and vault to the top of this race.

As the season unfolds, the race for the Offensive Rookie of the Year will be closely watched. Jeanty’s performance, combined with the effectiveness of the Raiders’ offensive scheme, will play a crucial role in determining the award’s outcome. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see if he can live up to the high expectations set for him.

Jeanty’s early positioning as the favorite for the Offensive Rookie of the Year highlights the excitement surrounding his potential in the NFL. With the right opportunities and a strong supporting cast, Jeanty could not only claim the award but also become a key contributor to the Raiders’ success this season.
