With the NFL regular season quickly approaching its end, chatter around the league regarding the next batch of head coaches continues to heat up. However, even the top network reporters are susceptible to false reporting, especially in the year 2023. On Thursday, Fox Sports’ Josina Anderson reported that Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson would require a hefty payday to leave his current position. His agent, Richmond Flowers III, quickly shot down the reports, calling out Anderson for false reporting.

I'm told personnel around the league are discussing their awareness that there is no asking price or demand and this tweet is 100% false and irresponsible reporting, per source. https://t.co/6RMT3GaHCU

NFL Agent Richmond Flowers III: Calls Out Fake Report

Richmond Flowers III, the acting agent for Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, took exception to a tweet from Fox Sports’ Josina Anderson on Thursday. Anderson reported that Johnson would require a hefty paycheck to become an NFL head coach, demanding at least $15 million annually. Flowers called Anderson out for the fake reporting, tweeting back, “I’m told personnel around the league are discussing their awareness that there is no asking price or demand, and this tweet is 100% false and irresponsible reporting, per source.”

A former NFL wide receiver, Flowers III played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Barcelona Dragons, and the Washington Redskins. He founded Collective Sports Advisors in 2007 and works closely with NFL quarterbacks and coaches.

Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson: Dominate 2023 Season

The Lions are among the best offensive units in the NFL, scoring 27.3 points per game, the fifth-best mark in the league. Ben Johnson took over as the offensive coordinator in 2022, with the Lions becoming a high-flying offense under his scheme. Quarterback Jared Goff has rejuvenated his career under Johnson, throwing for 55 touchdowns against 17 picks in 31 games.

The Lions sit comfortably atop the NFC North standings, leading the Minnesota Vikings by three games within the division. Detroit has not won the division since 1993 and has not won a playoff game since 1991. They have already reached double-digit wins this season, a feat they last accomplished in 2014. Head coach Dan Campbell, who took over as the Lions frontman in 2021, replaced Anthony Lynn with Ben Johnson the following season. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been with the Lions since the Campbell era began.
