The New York Jets cannot catch a break. Just as they land star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, another star is upset. Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams is in line for an extension but all indications are that the sides are not close. He has voiced his displeasure subtly on social media.

With his last tweet is a RT of the contract the #Giants gave Dexter Lawrence – $90 million with $60 million guaranteed.

New York Jets Star Quinnen Williams Upset About Current Contract
His Twitter bio now reads, “Defensive Tackle for ………..” and his last retweet was about the large extension that defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence got this offseason. Williams is coming off of a career year where he was named First Team All-Pro and led the Jets’ defense to a dominant performance. His 12 sacks and 28 quarterback hits made him a nightmare for opposing offenses. It seems as if he was hoping to get a huge contract this offseason but so far, the Jets have seemed reluctant to hand it over. This might have something to do with their current quarterback situation.

Aaron Rodgers Contract An Issue?
Rodgers came with a hefty contract. He also came has brought over Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and a couple of other former Packers that need contracts. Did the Jets not leave themselves enough room to sign Williams? It is a massive risk if they hope that Williams just plays out his current deal and then re-signs later. Clearly, he is already upset with the team and I would venture to say he would have no problems finding suitors on the open market. As the sides remain far apart, this is a storyline to watch for the Jets as they try to capture the elusive Super Bowl.
The New York Jets seem to always have an issue and Quinnen Williams is just the latest. They finally have a great player but are having trouble finding a way to sign him to a big deal. The run of defensive tackle contracts is most likely not helping as Williams is most likely looking to reset the market. If the Jets cannot get this done, it will be another stain on the franchise.
