The New York Jets have had one of their worst seasons in recent memory, and it has been quite the circus since day one. Since acquiring Aaron Rodgers, the team believed that they could make it to the promised land, but they have barely gotten close to making the playoffs since.
After Tuesday, the team has now fired both their head coach Robert Saleh, and their general manager Joe Douglas. Saleh was fired earlier in the season and their GM was just fired today.
New York Jets Owner Woody Johnson Reportedly Deciding On Aaron Rodgers’s Future
On Tuesday, the team fired their general manager and things are clearly in a state of chaos for their organization as a whole. Rodgers has gotten everything he wanted but when will that all end? The team stands at 3-8 this year so the firings make sense, but Rodgers has been one of, if not the main, issue for the team, so it would make sense that he would not be don’t the team that much longer.
He has already voiced his feelings about wanting to play next season, but the 40-year-old quarterback may not have that much left in the tank. Rodgers is not eh last man standing from their whole regiment, and the team’s owner Woody Johnson has got to be thinking about how much, longer Rodgers will remain with the team.
There have been new reports from ESPN Jets insider Rich Cimini that Rodgers’ time with the Jets is going to come to an end. He has heard that Johnson is ready to move on from this Rodgers circus and look to the future to start to create a new team:
“One source said he’d be ‘shocked’ if Johnson brings Rodgers back in 2025,” Cimini wrote Tuesday afternoon. “Rodgers, 40, mired in one of his worst statistical seasons, is under contract for next season ($23.5 million cap charge), but none of his salary is guaranteed.”
He is not the only one who is reporting this, as another Jets reporter Connor Hughes voiced the same thing coming from the Jets front office that the team would:
“prefer to move on from Aaron Rodgers.”

The team started 2-1 and everything seemed like it was going according to plan, but since then, and after firing Saleh, the team has been one of the worst in the entire NFL. They have now lost 7 of their last 8 games and too many of the other worst teams in the league.
Rodgers’ stats are not as awful as the team has been playing, as he has totaled: 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 11 games. However, there are many things on film that look like Rpdgers has lost a big step in his game, specifically throwing on the run which used to be the main strength in his play style.
While Rodgers has been way above average in comparison to the rest of the league, which is not saying much, the future Hall of Famer has dropped considerably since his MVP days, and father time is undefeated unless your name is not Tom Brady. The Jets looked much better just a year ago with their starter being Zach Wilson, and now they are at the very bottom of the league.
It is sad that this last hurra from Rodgers turned out this way, as he truly is one of the greatest to ever do it and arguably the most talented thrower of the football that the NFL has ever seen. In his prime, Rodgers was one of the most feared players to play against, and no matter what happens he is a lock to make it to the Hall.
This Jets stint will be a blemish to a top-10 quarterback of all time, as this was truly a circus. If Johnson indeed moves in a different direction that will be a great move for this team’s future. However, he has already done every single thing that Aaronw wanted, and brought in all his former teammates, so he may have to listen to Rodgers again and let him play another year.
