The New York Jets fell to 2-3 following their Sunday morning loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. All game long, Aaron Rodgers and the offense looked disjointed and sluggish. The four-time NFL MVP also suffered a low ankle sprain in the loss, an injury that had him crawling on the sidelines in what appeared to be excruciating pain.
For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, the Jets currently look like a team that is poised to miss the NFL Playoffs, especially on offense. Indeed, New York’s defense has played extremely well this season. They rank second in the NFL, allowing just 255.8 total yards per game and are tied for fifth allowing just 17.0 points per game.
If the Jets are going to really compete for a Super Bowl, as they expect themselves to do with Rodgers as their quarterback, they need help on offense.
The New York Jets Have Been Linked to Wide Receiver Davante Adams (Again)
It is no secret that the Jets have been interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams for over a year. Of course, this is because Adams and Rodgers were teammates for eight years with the Green Bay Packers and experienced immense levels of success together.
New York even tried to acquire Adams via trade with the Raiders ahead of last year’s trade deadline, even though Rodgers was out for the year with a torn Achilles. Of course, no deal was done at that time.
Fast forward to this season, and the three-time All-Pro wide receiver is unhappy with the Raiders organization. He has formerly requested a trade and Las Vegas is currently fielding offers.
Of course, the Jets are one of the teams interested.
The New York Jets Should Expect a Davante Adams Trade in the Next Could of Days
When Adams first requested a trade, he had missed Las Vegas’ Week Four game due to a hamstring injury. Since he was not healthy enough to play, the assumption around the NFL was that any trade would have to wait until he was able to play for his potential new team.
After missing Week Five, the Raiders announced that, if he was still on their team, he would be playing in Week Six.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, though, both Adams and the Raiders are hopeful that he will be gone by then:
“Since last week I’ve had plenty of conversations about where Adams might be traded. But the more pressing question right now: When will he land? As far as the Raiders and the receiver are concerned, they want him to have a new home some time in the next 48 hours.”
The Raiders want a second-round pick in exchange for Adams, but Russini reports that they will most likely get a third.
New York is not the only team in play, with the New Orleans Saints also interested. An earlier report stated that the Pittsburgh Steelers had the most aggressive offer on the table.
Still, the Jets are the favorite to land the six-time Pro Bowler because of Rodgers. And they could be reunited as soon as this week.
That is not a guarantee, though. Nothing in the NFL is.
