New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is known for many things. Above all, he should be fondly remembered as one of the greatest players in NFL history, a four-time MVP that will undoubtedly be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame once his name first appears on the ballot.
Another thing he has become known for in recent years has been his tendency to do controversial podcast appearances or to make polarizing comments on the sports podcasts that he does.
On Monday, though, Rodgers was able to combine both of these things (minus the controversy) in his guest appearance on Pardon My Take, a podcast that he has appeared on before.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Takes a Shot at the Chicago Bears
During his interview on Pardon My Take, Rodgers was asked if he thought that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will be successful in the NFL. He responded:
“Yeah, I do. I like (D’Andre) Swift, I like Keenan (Allen), I like the receiver from Washington (Rome Odunze), he’s good. And then of course, you still got DJ (Moore). I think that team is almost good enough to beat the Packers. Almost good enough.”
As seen above, Rodgers is a big fan of many of the players that Chicago has added over the course of the offseason. Ever one to hold a grudge against his old fierce rival, he did clarify that he does not think the Bears are good enough to beat the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers was 24-5 against the Bears as the Packers’ starting quarterback. Chicago has not beaten Green Bay since 2018.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Owned the Chicago Bears
As mentioned above, Rodgers saw a high level of success against the Bears during his 15 years as the Packers starting quarterback. All told, he had a passer rating of 109.0, 6,965 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions against the Bears in the 29 games he played against them.
Among his most notable wins that does not often get brought up when discussing his dominant regular season numbers against them, Rodgers and the Packers defeated the Bears in the 2010 NFC Championship Game. Of course, they then went on to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
In that game, Rodgers was actually fairly average against Chicago. He was just 17/30 for 244 yards and two interceptions. He also rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown.
Still, then win is what matters. And while he may be criticized for only having one Super Bowl so far, it is the same number of Super Bowls as the Bears franchise has won.
