The New York Jets desperately made a trade earlier today, which many people have been waiting for since Aaron Rodgers said he was looking forward to playing with Davante Adams again back in July and when Adams requested a trade from his former team earlier this month. The Las Vegas Raiders traded Adams to the Jets for a conditional 2025 third-round pick. The third-round pick can turn into a second-round pick if he becomes a first or second-team All-Pro this season.
Now that Adams has reunited with Rodgers, the Jets have one major issue with their wide receiver room.
The New York Jets wide receiver room is crowded
The Jets’ wide receiver room has become crowded due to the recent trade, meaning their top three receivers will receive most of the playing time, as a rotation is highly unlikely given the talent of their starters. Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson will start on the outside and receive the lion’s share of snaps and targets there, and Allen Lazard will continue playing in the slot. Because of this, Mike Williams is the odd man out in the rotation.
He could be traded soon
According to Jordan Schultz of Schultz_Report, the New York Jets plan to make Mike Williams available for trade because of the Davante Adams acquisition. Schultz also points to the crowded receiver room as the reason for being shopped. He should draw interest from multiple teams who need help at the wide receiver position.

He has struggled to find his footing with his new team
Mike Williams has struggled to find his footing with the New York Jets. First, he may not be 100% since he’s still recovering from last season’s ACL tear sustained in Week 3. Second, he hasn’t played much in their first six games, only participating in 53% of snaps compared to playing around 60 to 80% with the Los Angeles Chargers. Third, he hasn’t been involved much in the passing game, with only 17 targets, and hasn’t been productive, with only ten receptions for 145 yards and a crucial drop in Week 6. Finally, when Aaron Rodgers targets him, something bad happens, and Rodgers throws him under the bus, like in yesterday’s game-sealing interception, he blamed Williams (who tripped) for running the wrong route when the ball was underthrown.

A change of scenery would be nice for Mike Williams.
