The New York Jets are hoping that Breece Hall can be ready to go week 1 after tearing his ACL last season. He showed the full range of his abilities scoring a touchdown in four consecutive games at one point. He looked to be well on his way to competing for Offensive Rookie of the Year with fellow teammate Garrett Wilson. His recovery seems to be going well but the running back landed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list today.
New York Jets Breece Hall Will Begin Training Camp On PUP List
This isn’t a huge deal…yet. Hall is eligible to come off the PUP list at any point during training camp. If he does, he can start week 1 for the new-look Jets. If he is still on the list once the season kicks off, he will have to miss at least the first six games of the season. There is not a whole lot behind Hall with Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda, and Zonovan Knight being the backs that would compete for the starting job. For Jets fans, there shouldn’t be too much panic but it is something to watch for in training camp.
The Team Needs Hall In The Backfield
Even though Aaron Rodgers will elevate the passing game, the Jets need to make sure their running game is solid as well. Rodgers has had some of his best seasons with Aaron Jones running wild and helping Rodgers set up the pass. If teams can forget about the run, the offense will have a tougher time moving the ball. The team does not want to rush Hall back into the lineup but does want to maximize the Super Bowl window that they have with an aging quarterback.
The New York Jets have Super Bowl aspirations and are hoping that Breece Hall can help lead them to the promised land along with Rodgers and the rest of the offense.
