The New York Jets are very thin at defensive tackle and need a reliable complement for Quinnen Williams. While Jay Tufele has impressed during training camp and the preseason, Byron Cowart, who was carted off the field with an ankle injury two weeks ago, has yet to practice and may not be ready for Week 1. Meanwhile, three-time Super Bowl Champion, Derrick Nnadi, may not survive roster cuts next week.
Because of this, the Jets might acquire a defensive tackle now or next week via the waiver wire.

The Jets acquire Jowon Briggs and a 2026 seventh-round pick, and the Browns receive a 2026 sixth-round pick in return. Briggs is scheduled to earn a $960,000 base salary and cap hit in 2025, according to Over The Cap.

Here’s a quick review of his NFL career

The Cleveland Browns drafted Jowon Briggs 243rd overall in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The team cut him during roster cuts in his rookie season, and he spent the first 12 weeks on the practice squad. The Browns promoted Briggs in early December, and he recorded 13 tackles, one TFL, and two quarterback hits in six games and 133 defensive snaps.
