The New York Giants are one of the teams with the most questions at the quarterback position entering 2024. Daniel Jones is facing the most pressure since he is the current starting quarterback making $40 million annually.
Then, there is Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito. Have any of them stood out during the Giants OTAs? One reporter seems to think so, but Giants fans believe that is a major concern.
Connor Hughes Believes Daniel Jones Is Clear QB1

With Giants OTAs underway, Connor Hughes of SNY seems to believe that the Giants’ starting quarterback job is Daniel Jones’ to lose. Hughes believes that Jones has stood out among the rest and is in the runaway for QB1 on the team:
“I get that it’s OTAs, but based off what I’ve seen, I’d be floored if Daniel Jones isn’t the runaway QB1. Drew Lock & Tommy DeVito are no real push to be QB1.” -Connor Hughes
Hughes has witnessed the performances of each quarterback during the OTAs thus far. An important note is that Daniel Jones is not taking part in team drills yet. Here is how Jones and Lock did in the latest OTAs:
“Giants QB Daniel Jones was 5 of 6 passing in 7-on-7 drills today. Connected twice with Wandale Robinson. Drew Lock took all first-team reps in team drills. He was 17 of 23. Three of those completions were very obvious sacks. Lock missed quite bad on a few others. Lock did make a nice long completion to Robinson.” -Connor Hughes
New York Giants Fans Concerned About Daniel Jones

While Hughes believes that Jones is the clear QB1, Giants fans tend to disagree. Earlier this morning, this video of Daniel Jones was released from the OTAs. To say Giants fans were angry about Jones’ performance here was an understatement. These notable comments show many are ready to give up on the 2024 season already:
“7 seconds to deliver the ball and nobody rushing……”
“Sack”
“Held onto the ball for 6.5 seconds lol. Good luck this year.”
“Holding the ball long enough to blame the offensive line that doesn’t exist.”
“7 seconds to throw a 3 yard hitch… great to see Daniel in midseason form.”
New York Giants Moving Forward

The Giants still have a lot to sort out at this stage of the offseason. However, one thing is certain. This upcoming season will likely be a defining one for Daniel Jones.
If he does not start out of the gate or perform well out of the gate as a starter, the Giants will likely opt out of his remaining contract. Plus, it would likely be the end of Daniel Jones’ time as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
