New York Giants: Offensive Line Revealed During OTAs

The New York Giants had the worst offensive line in the NFL a season ago. New York fired Bobby Johnson as its offensive line coach during the offseason. The Giants hired Carmen Bricillo as the new offensive line coach. He was the Las Vegas Raiders offensive line coach in the NFL a season ago.

The New York Giants hope Bricillo can fix the Giants offensive line this season. New York had OTAs on Monday and Tuesday, but they did not practice on Wednesday. They will be back in action on Thursday.

The Giants did not draft a single offensive lineman during the 2024 NFL Draft, but general manager Joe Schoen addressed that position through free agency. The starting offensive line for the New York Giants, for now, will be Andrew Thomas at left tackle, Jermaine Eluemunor at left guard, John Michael Schmitz Jr. at center, Jon Runyan at right guard, and Evan Neal at right tackle.

It is a major surprise that Evan Neal is the projected starting right tackle for now. He was the seventh-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Neal has not shown any promise throughout his first two years in the NFL. The New York Giants think they could fix him and that is why they brought in a different offensive line coach.

Neal, however, will be on a short leash this season if he messes up. Eluemunor was signed as a free agent and played for the New England Patriots a season ago. Runyan played for the Green Bay Packers a season ago.

Some people feel like the New York Giants did not do enough to address the offensive line woes in the offseason. It can’t be any worse than last season. It feels like an eternity since the offensive line has played well.

Was the offensive line bad last season because of quarterback play or was it because of both? We will find out this season for the New York Giants. Neal is only 23 years old. As for Andrew Thomas, he missed some time with an injury last season for the Giants and is one of the best left tackles in the NFL when healthy. If the offensive line is any better this season, they could surpass the 6-11 record from a season ago.
