The New York Giants will be without the offense’s most explosive playmaker Sunday afternoon in one of the most daunting tests of what is quickly becoming another disappointing season.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced Friday that electrifying rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers won’t play in Week 5, and still hasn’t cleared the concussion protocol.
Nabers, who has caught 35 passes for 386 yards with three touchdowns as Daniel Jones’ most potent target, suffered a concussion late in New York’s Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Against Dallas, Nabers announced his presence on the national stage by catching 12 passes for 115 yards, his second 100-plus yard performance in three games for the Giants.
There had been some hope that the fact that the injury occurred on Thursday Night Football that the added time off would allow for Nabers to clear the protocol, but that has yet to happen. So, the Giants will look to manufacture a passing game around receivers Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and others.
