The New York Giants running back room is going to be an interesting battle throughout training camp. Saquon Barkley left the Giants in free agency for its arch-rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. New York will have an interesting running back depth chart entering training camp.

At the moment, Devin Singletary will be the starting running back. After that, everything feels up in the air. As of now according to an ESPN depth chart, Eric Gray is listed second, rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. from Purdue is listed third, and Gary Brightwell is listed fourth on the New York Giants running back depth chart.

Gray is going to be entering his second NFL season. He was drafted as a fifth-round selection (172nd overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. Tracy Jr. was a fifth-round pick (166th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Former Ivy League Running Back Dante Miller Has a Chance to Make the New York Giants Roster
Former IVY League running back Dante Miller signed with the New York Giants organization over a month ago. He used to play for Columbia. During his collegiate career at Columbia, he rushed for 1,281 yards and was named to the First-Team All-Ivy Selection. Miller also had six touchdowns rushing on 258 carries when he was with Columbia.
There was an NCAA eligibility error made during his transfer from Columbia to South Carolina in 2022 and that is one of the reasons why he could not be in the NFL Draft. Former Columbia head coach Al Bagnoli told the New York Post:
“He’s about as fine a young man as I’ve ever been around. It’s crazy how many Ivy League professors used to come up to me and say, ‘Where’d you get this kid?’ I’d say, ‘I wish we had two or three more of him.’”
The former Columbia head coach also added about how fast he is by saying to the New York Post:
“He’s very smooth — not herky-jerky at all — and you don’t realize how fast he’s running until defenders that have really good angles can’t touch him. You’d run an innocent middle-zone or outside-stretch play, and all of a sudden the safety takes one wrong step. He’s not a good kid to try to play catch-up to.”
Dante Miller is 5’9″ and weighs 200 lbs. With a lot of uncertainty on the New York Giants roster at the running back position, there is a chance that Dante Miller can shine throughout the summer. Miller has a chance to be a great story for the Giants to make the 53-man roster this season.
