The New York Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys 20-15 on Thursday night football at home in a game that could have been won. The Giants had the better time of possession, committed fewer penalties, and still lost the game.
Dallas scored touchdowns and New York didn’t. Quarterback Daniel Jones completed 29-of-40 passes for 281 yards and one interception. He also rushed for three yards on four carries.
New York Giants Fans Think They Are a Quarterback Away From Being a Contender and Daniel Jones Isn’t It
This is year six of Daniel Jones being in the NFL. The Giants had to settle for five field goals in the game. There is a ceiling with this offense with Jones being the quarterbacks. This is what all Giants fans were thinking about the loss against the Dallas Cowboys:
Giants are literally a QB away from being a serious contender. DJ Missed 3 deep passes . Doesn’t elevate the team around him.

The Giants are a good QB away from winning games like that
I can’t wait

a takeaway i have on the Giants is we are a good QB away from being a legit playoff team
and right now given the roster construction i think i’d prefer targeting an established veteran via trade this off-season over drafting one from this incoming class

The NY Giants are always talked about for being one QB away, an WR away, a secondary away, from being a playoff team. Spare me the rhetoric. The NY Giants are one owner (Mara) away from being a winning team. We need new leadership. Period

The Giants are a QB away. It’s all that’s missing for them to be a fun team who can shock the world.

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has been very good in the first four games of the season while dealing with a bottom-tier quarterback in the league. He has caught 35 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns this season, along with averaging 11.0 yards per reception. Nabers has been targeted 52 times this season.
Potential Daniel Jones Replacements In 2025
Is it possible that General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll will find their Daniel Jones replacement in the 2025 NFL Draft? Cam Ward of Miami, Carson Beck of Georgia, Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, and Quinn Ewers of Texas will be some of the names who could be the New York Giants in 2025.
Imagine Nabers with a much better quarterback than Jones. Yes, Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson had key drops, but Jones threw many passes deep that were underthrown. He has not thrown for three touchdowns in a single regular season game in ages. This is why the New York Giants are not reaching their full potential with a fixed offensive line and also an elite receiver on the team now.
