The New York Giants finished with a 3-14 record this past season in the NFL and will have the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Owner John Mara decided to keep both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll for another season despite the fans not wanting them back.
They have regressed over the last couple of seasons and the New York Giants need to get back to winning ways. One of the main reasons why the Giants fanbase is not fond of bringing back Schoen next year is because of not bringing back running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is with the Philadelphia Eagles and is in the Super Bowl this season.
Bleacher Report Suggests That the New York Giants Trade Up In the 2025 NFL Draft
With the Giants having the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, it is not a secret that they need to draft a quarterback. There is a chance that both Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward will be gone by the time they draft third. The Cleveland Browns and the Tennessee Titans will have the first two picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cleveland and Tennessee also need quarterbacks. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department thinks that the New York Giants need to trade up with either Cleveland or Tennessee this offseason. They said:
“The Giants’ biggest obstacle this offseason is going to be finding a quarterback. They might have to get aggressive to do it. They have a lot of cap space, but there won’t be a great option on the market unless the Vikings let Sam Darnold hit free agency. They have the No. 3 pick in the draft, but it’s a two-quarterback class and the Titans and Browns pick ahead of them. If both like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, it’s not going to be an option.
That leaves them with the choice of trading up in the draft to select one of the rookies or swing a trade for a veteran. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen might be on their last opportunity to keep their job. That could make the veteran route more appealing.”
A lot of New York Giants fans are hoping they draft either Sanders or Ward in the 2025 NFL Draft. They need a top quarterback to throw the ball to wide receiver Malik Nabers. The Giants’ offense has been horrible for the last few years.
Won’t Need To Trade Up
There is probably not much need for the New York Giants to trade up in this draft. There is a chance that the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns could pass on quarterbacks and draft Travis Hunter and possibly Abdul Carter with those selections.
If Sanders and Ward are both available with the third pick, general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll will have their choice of which quarterback they want moving forward. No matter which quarterback they will draft, the New York Giants better be right also.
